SOLO EXHIBIT VASYL NETSKO “LAST HOPE”
at the gallery in Via Merulana, 220 | Roma
The opening event will be held on Friday 13 September 2024 at 6pm at the gallery in Via Merulana, 220 | Roma

"IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GREAT MASTERS" is the latest series of paintings by the Ukrainian painter, Vasyl Netsko.
The author, turning to the most famous and appreciated works in the history of art, creates their contemporary interpretations.
As a result of this confrontation, intriguing works are created, surprising the recipient with a reference to the topic taken up in the original, as well as emphasizing other key elements of the original, as well as the transformation of the motifs contained therein, by passing them through the artist's personal emotions and experiences.
The series' opening piece, inspired by Klimt's "The Kiss", "The Kiss", although also full of gold and flowers, is innocent and charming in its message. An equestrian portrait of Napoleon, based on the idealized representation of J.L. David - refers to childhood war games, and "Harmony of Chaos" reaches into the subconscious much deeper than the once scandalous "Frenzy of Elation". The charming "Illusion of Solace" reveals the complicated relationship of lovers, using Waterhouse's characters, while "Masquerade" will seduce you with its combination of the essence of carnival and the most famous portrait in the world...
When creating this series, the author's intention is both to reinterpret old works, but also to encourage us to turn to them and listen to their stories.
