International Art Exhibition – Slide Show

At the occasion of its first anniversary, the VEGetariAN Association of Abruzzo proposes a series of events entitled VEGetariAN 4 Life.
Among the highlights of the program, there will be an International Art Exhibition and a slide show of the artworks.
The exhibition, entitled Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love, is a great opportunity to communicate through art the main themes that describe a vegan an vegetarian lifestyle.
Being a vegetarian or a vegan doesn’t consist in a diet made up of deprivations. It is a lifestyle that helps people to be in touch with the world through a deep knowing. The choice of a plant based diet is made “For the animals” -or ethical standpoint, “For the environment” -or saving the planet and “For our own life” or taking care of our own health.
The goal of Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love is to show that through a conscious choice, it is possible to feed oneself with love and to make food choices out of love for others.
The key aspect of the whole exhibition is the respect for the animal world, for the environment and for our bodies, given that all of them are being threatened by our dietary choices.
Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love offers a deep contemplation of the human being as the protagonist who has to rediscover the pleasure of living in harmony with mother Earth.
The economic crisis that currently threatens the whole Planet is in fact also helping human beings to rediscover their age-old ties with Nature. It is not utopian to think that precisely thanks to these ties, it is possible to find a way out of the actual crisis.
Serge Latouche, professor of economics at the University of d’Orsay, believes that the solution is to be found in living in harmony with the world through a local economy and through a thrifty environmentalism. According to Latouche, it is of utmost importance to create a new sense of responsibility, a new civic responsibility, a new environmental consciousness and a strong solidarity among human beings and between human beings and other species.
To complete this vision there is a diet that is energy efficient : it is local, seasonal, organic and definitely vegetarian.
Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love is also inspired by the splendid union of art and enograstronomy that history has already revealed on different occasions.
The idea of associating food with a creative process in not new: just consider how in culinary art foods are used to give life to true works of art.
Food has always been of interest to artists. Food in fact has been and is present in still life and it was a decorative element in the garlands of altar pieces. If ingested or used in a conceptual form, food has become an active subject of performance and of contemporary displays through a ritualistic mechanism.
Food is thus an economic, educational and cultural instrument. It can also become the object of observation and analysis to help human beings to reposition themselves within Nature.
For the project Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love, the VEGetariAN Association of Abruzzo is looking for 100 artists throughout the world that would be willing to send a single picture of their artwork that expresses an idea, a concept or a message compatible with the spirit that gives life to the vegetarian and vegan lifestyles.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The exhibition Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love is conceived, organized and realized by a technical scientific commission with the following members:

Mandra Cerrone, artist;
Angelo Colangelo, artist;
Michele Meomartino, president of the VEGetariAN Association of Abruzzo;
Bettina Adank, vice-president of the VEGetariAN Association of Abruzzo;
Anna Calamita, executive member of the VEGetariAN Association of Abruzzo.

There is no cost to participate.

Artists interested in participating should send the picture of their artwork by June 2, 2009 to the following email address: famedamore@gmail.com

- The .jpg picture should be horizontal (800x600pixel 72 dpi);
- Title, name of the artist and place of origin should be legibly displayed at the bottom of the picture;

The 100 selected pictures will be displayed during a rolling slide show in an open space adjacent to the convent and to the birthplace of Gabriele d’Annunzio in Corso Manthonè in Pescara, Friday June 12, from 20.00 to 24.00. The slide projection will be viewed by the many passers-by that crowd the historic center of town.

L’Associazione VEGetariANA d’Abruzzo in occasione del suo primo Anniversario propone una giornata di eventi dal titolo VEGetariANI X la Vita.
Tra le iniziative in programma anche una Rassegna Internazionale d’Arte dedicata alla proiezione di immagini.
La rassegna, intitolata Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love
, rappresenta una grande occasione per comunicare attraverso l’arte i temi centrali che caratterizzano una scelta di vita vegetariana e vegana.
Essere vegetariani o vegani non vuol dire vivere scegliendo uno stile alimentare fatto di sofferenti privazioni ma, aiuta gli uomini a relazionarsi con il mondo attraverso una precisa consapevolezza, in cui una dieta a base vegetale deve essere fatta: "Per gli animali" secondo un punto di vista etico, "Per la natura" secondo un punto di vista ecologico e "Per la propria vita" secondo un punto di vista salutistico.
Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love si pone come obiettivo quello di dimostrare come attraverso una scelta precisa è possibile nutrirsi d’amore e mangiare per amore degli altri.
Chiave di volta dell’intera rassegna è il rispetto per il mondo animale, per quello vegetale e per il nostro corpo a volte messo in pericolo proprio dalle nostre scelte alimentari.
Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love offre un’attenta riflessione che vede protagonista proprio l’essere umano, il quale deve riscoprire il piacere di vivere in sintonia con la madre Terra.
La stessa crisi economica che sta attanagliando tutto il Pianeta sta aiutando l’uomo a riscoprire quegli antichi rapporti con la Natura. Non è utopistico, infatti, pensare che proprio grazie a questi rapporti è possibile uscire fuori dalla crisi attuale.
Anche Serge Latouche professore di economia all’Université d’Orsay, crede che la soluzione è da trovare nel vivere in armonia con il mondo attraverso un’economia locale e un’ecologia economica.
Secondo Latouche è fondamentale creare una nuova responsabilità umana, un nuovo senso civico, una nuova coscienza ecologica e una forte solidarietà non solo tra gli uomini, ma anche tra gli uomini e le altre specie.
A completare tale visione c’è un’alimentazione più economa di energia che eviterebbe di seguire alcuni orientamenti contrari a quelli attuali: sarebbe, infatti, locale, stagionale, biologica e sicuramente vegetariana.
Ma Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love trae spunto anche da quello splendido connubio tra arte ed enogastronomia che la storia già in diverse occasioni ha saputo regalarci.
Non è nuova infatti l’idea di associare il cibo ad un atto creativo: basti pensare alla più generica arte culinaria all’utilizzo degli alimenti per dar vita a vere e proprie opere d’arte.
Il cibo è sempre stato oggetto d’interesse per gli artisti. Il cibo, infatti, è stato e continua ad essere protagonista nelle nature morte, è stato elemento decorativo nelle ghirlande delle pale d’altare, mentre se consumato o utilizzato in forma concettuale diventa soggetto di performance ed installazioni contemporanee attraverso un meccanismo rituale.
Il cibo quindi come strumento economico, educativo e culturale ma anche come elemento di riflessione e di analisi per aiutare l’uomo a riappropriarsi della sua giusta collocazione nella Natura.


Per la realizzazione di Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love l’Associazione VEGetariANA d’Abruzzo è alla ricerca di 100 artisti operanti in tutto il mondo i quali si renderebbero disponibili ad inviare una sola immagine che possa esprimere un’idea, un concetto o un messaggio compatibile con lo spirito che anima la vita vegetariana o vegana.

La rassegna Fame d’Amore - Hungry for Love è ideata, organizzata e realizzata da una commissione tecnico scientifica composta da:
Ivan D’Alberto, giornalista e direttore del Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Nocciano (Pe – Italy);
Mandra Cerrone, artista;
Angelo Colangelo, artista;
Michele Meomartino, presidente dell’Associazione VEGetariANA d’Abruzzo;
Bettina Adank, vice presidente dell’Associazione VEGetariANA d’Abruzzo;
Anna Calamita, membro del direttivo dell’Associazione VEGetariANA d’Abruzzo.

Le 100 immagini selezionate saranno proiettate in uno spazio all’aperto nei pressi del chiostro della Casa Natale di Gabriele d’Annunzio in Corso Manthonè a Pescara, venerdì 12 Giugno, dalle 20 alle 24 in modo tale da poter essere ben viste dai tanti passanti che solitamente animano il centro storico della città.
